The Loft, a tale of the ultimate six-month drab-to-fab beach makeover.

Summer-ready fitness starts in winter – or so the saying goes – yet the team at Your Home Designs in Corlette on the coastal shores of Port Stephens have taken this maxim to a whole new level. Their beach-ready workout transformed an unloved, termite-ridden red brick home into a glamour puss boutique holiday accommodation – in only six months.  Talk about design fitspo.

The new-look, newly-named ‘The Loft’ took shape via a complete style transformation described by Creative Director Zoe Pohlmann as “simple, minimalist, family-friendly and homely.”  It’s also an incredibly calming space, with a base palette of white walls and pale timber, highlighted with subtle but powerful pops of pink and blue.  It’s just the kind of place to unwind on a minibreak (we’re imagining gentle morning yoga and generous afternoon spritzes).

“Despite the termites and the quite overpowering red brick, it was located in one of the most sought-after locations in Port Stephens, so it was the perfect opportunity to create a holiday rental property,” says Zoe Pohlmann, creative director of Your Home Designs.  “It was cramped and tired and we wanted to produce a really beautiful space.  Being our own project, we were able to push selection boundaries that may normally be limited by clients and budgets and other constraints.”

“We’ve used polished concrete in a lot of our projects, and we wanted to continue to use similar, natural products that still create an design impact, so there was no looking back once we discovered Fibonacci Stone,” says Zoe.  “We have always loved terrazzo stone, so when we started the planning process we based the whole design in consideration of using a terrazzo patterned product. Our goal was to create a fun, inspiring space with splashes of our favourite colours, pink and blue – so Fibonacci Stone’s Pavlova and Rocketman fit the brief perfectly.”

The kitchen benchtop is the focal point of the dining area, with the dreamy blue hues of Rocketman providing a chic and contemporary take on a seaside theme.  With its hardwearing properties, it’s also a great benchtop option for food preparation and casual dining.

For après-beach showers, lucky guests are ensconced in a sea of pink Pavlova terrazzo tiles.  Paired with elegant brass tapware and white ceramicware, this bathroom is as far away from an old-style beach shack as you could want.

Following “six months of hard work and dedication,” Zoe and her team are planning future projects utilising Fibonacci Stone.  “These incredible products are so successful in showcasing a ‘point of difference’ in comparison to an average stone or tile. We also love the option of a slab to minimise grout lines. It’s something we are definitely considering for future use,” she says.

“The versatility of Fibonacci Stone products, and the way designers are specifying them into such a huge and diverse range of projects is something that continually inspires us,” says Michael Karakolis, Creative Director at Fibonacci Stone.   “Commercial, retail, hospo, accommodation and residential – we are seeing such outstanding applications, just like this great transformation by Your Home Design.”

Like all of the products in our range, Pavlova and Rocketman are stocked items, with NO LEAD TIME which means no need to re-select, no project delays and no disappointed clients.
