Who would have thought that terrazzo and gelato would work so well together? We’re happy to report that they make a perfect match, thanks to the brilliant work of stylist Nat Turnbull.
Melbourne has been screaming for ice cream since Pidapipo opened its sweet doors – and with good cause. The inspired flavours and creamy texture of its gelato have seen queues down the street and around the corner as people wait for their chance to taste salted caramel or baccio gelato made to a closely guarded recipe.
If a scoop or two is not enough, made-to-order gelato cakes are now available and, to celebrate their launch, these beautiful creations were recently styled with Fibonacci Stone Seascape and Idol terrazzo tiles.
These elegant pale blue and grey terrazzo tiles were teamed with Pidapipo’s gelato cakes by stylist Nat Turbull. They perfectly complement the delicious creations of Pidapipo’s owner, Lisa Valmorbida.
The made-to-order gelato cakes now available from Pidapipo’s Windsor store push icy confectionary boundaries with elaborate creations that range from Banoffee, a caramel sauce, banana gelato and semi-freddo delight, to the vegetable-meets-sweets Pumpkin Pie.
Setting off the beauty of these tasty creations are our exquisitely subtle Seascape tiles, with a combination of muted blue and light grey marble chips that represent the icy world of gelato. Its elegant form highlights the deliciously delicate Bombe Alaska cake.
The Idol terrazzo tiles add another layer of temptation, illustrated perfectly by Turner in a series of Instagram posts that showcase the icy delights with bold accents and subtle colour combinations of white and grey.
It’s enough to make us place an order and celebrate the joy of gelato every day. Like the rest of Melbourne, we’re screaming for that ice cream.
