The Matter Collection - The beauty found in irregularity.

The beauty of irregularity is found at the heart of all terrazzo stone – after all, it is the sum of thousands of random and variable fragments bound together to form a whole.  Whilst some more traditional terrazzo designs aim to harness a sense of uniformity and control over composition, the idea of celebrating randomness and imperfection was key when designing the new Fibonacci Stone Matter collection.

“The chance to create a range that slightly exaggerates the randomness of composition by way of spacing, shape and colour was immensely appealing,” says Fibonacci Stone’s Creative Director, Michael Karakolis.  “I love the idea of a harmonious discord, where things that you would not at first imagine together actually produce a beautiful result.”

Unified by a serene palette of almost exclusively monochromatic tones, the designs in the Matter range are ideally suited as either the base for a more vivid scheme, or as the main attraction itself. “The Matter range sits at the more avant-garde end of our stone offerings – the designs are forward-looking, but not trend-driven, enabling them to stand the test of time.”

Lands Edge

Hints of warmth in these beautifully translucent light grey and white shards create an unexpected softness (kind of like when the sun hits the slopes…or the ice in your poolside cocktail). When set into an even mid-grey base, the effect is subtle, inviting a tactile response – it’s one of those products you’ll want to reach out and touch.

Poppin’

Dramatically set within a cool dark grey base, white, platinum and steely shapes pop with intense strength, as if hit by a spotlight. Poppin’ is a startling base for any strong monochromatic scheme. Dramatically set within a cool dark grey base, white, platinum and steely shapes pop with intense strength, as if hit by a spotlight.

Abstrakt

Otherworldly in shape and form, Abstrakt is sublimely gentle in its palette and composition, its pieces seeming to drift breezily around each other. Referencing the playful elements of design from the 1950’s to 80’s, it’s inkblot-like shapes in shades of grey marble are set within a white base and present an assured, modernist form.

Like all of our designs, the Fibonacci Stone Matter collection is available with no lead times, deliverable within seven days.
