Set within a stunning rural landscape rich with local lore – and incredibly, located just half an hour from Melbourne’s city centre – Marnong Estate is a new hospitality destination that encompasses the award-winning restaurant Bankvale Run, plus resort accommodation, vineyard, cellar-door, brewery and agri-business development.
The original mid-1800’s historic bluestone homestead remains, now offering boutique accommodation, but set just behind it is the newly redesigned Bankvale Run restaurant bar and terrace – and this is where the incredible transformation of the estate becomes apparent thanks to the thoughtful interiors created by Melbourne’s Biasol design.
“The client engaged us to re-design the Bankvale Run restaurant bar and terrace to elevate the customer and brand experience, to create an all-day dining venue that would transition from day to night trade, and be flexible for events and intimate gatherings,” says Design Director, Jean-Pierre Biasol.
Inspiration for the project came from the landscape itself. “We looked to nature for the colour and material palette and infused the venue with modern Australian style, and the warmth of Melbourne hospitality,” he says.
Indeed, the splendour of the landscape is well represented – banquettes and chairs are upholstered in rich brown and green leathers with earthy coloured cushions, and the light timber seating on the terrace complements the panoramic views. “The Fibonacci Stone Eventide terrazzo, together with the rendered walls and timber ceiling evoke the textural beauty of nature”, says Jean-Pierre.
Drawing on the depth of our range, Biasol specified every format of our Eventide stone – small slabs (1530x680x30mm) large tiles (600x600x20mm) and regular tiles (400x400x17mm). Our small slabs became vanities in restrooms and were even fabricated into tabletops for the restaurant, highlighting its ability to work in all aspects of hospitality including wet, and high-traffic areas.
Eventide is an important part of our Neues collection, where architecture and nature collide in the hard-edged beauty of Brutalist forms. It was inspired by and developed to be a sophisticated interpretation of our unique Victorian bluestone, so it has a perfect synergy within this stunning rural project.
Like the moments between day and night, when the light ebbs and flows, Eventide has the ability to appear either warm or cool. Almost fossil-like in appearance, mixed amongst the small grey shapes and base are handsome flecks of warm orange, amber and olive green. Eventide combines the strength of appearance of a bluestone, with the complexity of a stunning terrazzo.
Like all of our products, Eventide is a stocked product, with no lead time or minimum order quantity (MOQ) – ensuring that you experience no project delays, no need to re-select, and have no disappointed clients.
